Summer Vegan Pledge is rolling back into town

Have you got a few non-vegans in your life in need of some compassionate encouragement?

Tell them that the Animal Aid Summer Vegan Pledge is BACK!

The Summer Vegan Pledge is a month-long pledge hosted by Animal Aid that encourages non-vegans to try a vegan/plant-based diet for the month of June. Those who sign up to the pledge receive all of the help, advice, and support they need including access to exclusive social media groups and one-to-one support if they need it.

In previous years thousands of people have taken part with a majority of them stating they will remain vegan afterwards in a follow up survey (in 2018 53% of participants said they would remain vegan while in 2019 57% said they would).

If you or someone you know would be keen to take on the Summer Vegan Pledge this June, get all the information on the official website.

Animal Aid

London Vegan Beer Fest is not the only exciting event taking place on Saturday July 18th, 2015.

You can also join Animal Aid for their sponsored 10 km Walk For The Animals on London’s Hampstead Heath.

Get along to meet Marsha, a Staffordshire Bull Terrier saved by the fantastic New Hope Animal Rescue, along with some other shelter residents.

The animals will be enjoying a day out from their kennels, as well as hoping to find a new forever family.

You can register for the walk and print off more details here and sponsor Marsha – who is walking for Animal Aid – here.

Tell everyone about this wonderful event!

What a day!

Today was intense.

I work with Fry’s Family Foods and one of my jobs is to help run stands and exhibits at shows. Today marked the return of the Animal Aid Christmas Fayre to Kensington Town Hall and I got to take Fry’s to the masses. It was intense.

The event was packed solid with thousands of compassionate people, all jostling to get some tasty food and support the animal charities in attendance. Animal Aid do a faultless job putting this event on and I think it would be lovely if you followed them on Twitter.

It was a wonderful day full of happy faces. I was completely worn out from running the stand for Fry’s but the endless stream of friendly greetings from the crowd kept me on my toes and feeling upbeat.

I am indebted to the incredible volunteers from Animal Equality who helped with staffing the Fry’s stand. I honestly could not have done it without them. Please follow this fabulous group on Twitter.

Another crucial component of the day was Sara of Pomodoro E Basilico. Sara cooked from 9:00am until 4:30pm non-stop so we had delicious bolognese to hand out to hundreds and hundreds of people. She was a powerhouse and you should all follow her food business on Twitter.

Now I need my bed. I’m worn out.

The Great Vegan Challenge

When one of my favourite outreach groups emails to ask if I can spread the word about something, I jump right on it.

Check out what the compassionately-motivated people of Animal Aid have in store for the entire month of November and then pass the info on to a friend or family member who you think would make a good candidate for The Great Vegan Challenge.

In just 12 months London Vegan Potluck has become somewhat of an institution. The first Wednesday of every month has been turned into a glorious sea of vegan food delights.

But we don’t just stuff ourselves silly and stroke our bellies. Sometimes London vegans like to give back. In that spirit, we turned the most recent London Vegan Potluck into a fundraiser for Animal Aid. Sponsored by the wonderful Tupperware Man, the event raised approximately £150 for the charity through a raffle and partial sales donations.

(The Tupperware Man can also be found selling his wares this week as part of the super camp Dixie’s Tupperware Party at the Soho Theatre)

Potluck attendee Charlotte and her photographer companion Alicia have kindly offered to report back on the wonderful event. Take it away, friends…
