You’ll already know about The Spread Eagle, so I won’t waste too much of your time with the recap.
The Spread Eagle is a 100% vegan pub situated on Homerton High Street, just a few steps from Homerton Overground station. It is London’s first vegan pub and has been a much-loved watering hole, restaurant, and events space for quite a few years.
Now that we are up to speed, let me share with you my recent experience of trying some of the new menu items being served from the kitchen at The Spread Eagle.

The menu at The Spread Eagle has a few mainstays that never change, but they keep things interesting for regular visitors by swapping in exciting seasonal specialities a few times throughout the year.
The pub invited me in to try the following sides from the new selection:
- Purple sprouting broccoli, lentils, nasturtium leaf pesto & flowers
- Crispy fried cauliflower, black rice vinegar, hot pineapple honey, miso mayo
- Jersey Royal & asparagus salad, pickled pink onion, seeded crunch
- Tempeh croquetas, aioli
The mains were up next and I was super impressed by:
- Kung Pao tofu noodles
- Lions mane mushroom steak, hand cut chips, broccoli, peppercorn sauce
And do you think I had any room for dessert? Hahahaha. Do you know me?
I absolutely adored the chocolate mousse made from silken tofu and the rhubarb and custard tart. These desserts were solid takes on classic sweet treats and I’d definitely order them again.
That might all look impressive (and it was!) but the above dishes are just a few from the current menu.
You’ll also find juicy burgers, Sunday roast dinners, soups, pie and mash, pickles, salads, and bar snacks. It really is one of the best vegan menus in the UK.
