Vegan Fish and Chip Shop in Brighton

There are few things more deeply woven into everyday life in the UK than a proper fish and chip shop. Nothing screams Old Blighty like standing on a windy seafront with the smell of vinegar in the air!

And you can have this quintesssentially UK experience as a vegan if you get down to Brighton.

FGV at No Catch

No Catch is doing something special by taking that chippie tradition and giving it a fully vegan reworking without losing any of the enjoyment.

The menu is exactly what you want it to be. You’ll find golden battered fish and chips, proper chip shop battered sausages, mushy peas, tartare sauce, and rich curry sauce that should be poured over everything. They even have extras like tempura prawns and lemon shrimp.

And then there are the chips. I do not say this lightly, but these might just be the best triple cooked chips in the country. Crisp on the outside, fluffy in the middle, and one of the tastiest chips I’ve had in my life.

What makes this even more meaningful is the people behind it. The Unity Diner team has already shown what is possible when you combine great food with a clear ethical mission, and they carry that forward with No Catch. Profits from the business help fund Surge Animal Sanctuary, which gives the whole experience an added sense of purpose.

There is something powerful about seeing such an iconic part of UK food culture reimagined in this way. It is familiar, it is satisfying, and it proves that tradition does not need to be left behind when we choose a more compassionate way of eating.

If you find yourself in Brighton, do not miss it.
