I was strolling through London’s East End a few days ago when I spotted the ‘v’ word on a sign outside a community centre near Whitechapel.
I don’t take much convincing so I popped inside to take a look.

The Brady Arts & Community Centre on Hanbury Street is a hub packed full of events, exhibitions showcasing local artists, rooms for hire, a theatre, and a very old school cafe with vegan options.
I popped in for a the all-day vegan breakfast plate and while it won’t win any fine dining awards, it certainly filled me up while not breaking the bank.
My vegan plate featured mushrooms, baked beans, hummus, salad, falafel, chips, and sourdough toast. It was meant to feature avocado however the kitchen was out during my visit.
I’m not going to yank your chain and try to convince you this was the best meal I’ve had in London, but there is something heartening about having such a solid plate of vegan food as a main option at a community centre in a working class area.

You can see the exact location of Brady Arts & Community Centre thanks to Google Maps.
Stop by if you are in the area and check out some of the community focussed activities going on as well as grabbing a plate of plant-based goodness.
