The London food scene is brutal and we say goodbye to businesses just as quickly as we welcome them.
But one vegan street food trader has been lovingly serving up his plant-based creations in the same spot for more than a decade.

Will at The Tempeh Man is a special breed.
The street foodie handcrafts his fresh tempeh weekly, with recipes and techniques learned on Java, and serves up mouthwatering plates to hungry office workers on the legendary Leather Lane Market every Tuesday.
I popped down yesterday to have a chat with Will while watching him work his magic, adding fresh veggies, spices, and tempeh to the bubbling pans. The aromas were irresistible.



I highly recommend the Javanese tempeh curry, a creamy coconut-infused dish served with rice and flatbread.
The last time I visited The Tempeh Man stall was about ten years ago, so it was heartening to see Will still going strong. In a world where food business have the odds stacked against them, The Tempeh Man is breaking the trend by doing what he does without compromise.
Get along for lunch every Tuesday on Leather Lane just a few minutes stroll from Farringdon in central London.
You can also look for The Tempeh Man blocks of tempeh in retailers in the area such as Longdan near Old Street.
