How about a mouthwatering vegan version of a Canadian classic pie without having to leave London?
Keep reading below to discover how all of this can come true for you!

What do you know about tourtière?
Tourtière is a classic French Canadian pie that is not traditionally vegan-friendly. It usually turns up during the festive season and is packed with a mix of minced pork or a blend of whatever meats the cook has decided belong in a celebration pie. The whole lot is seasoned with old fashioned spices like cinnamon, cloves and allspice.
It has been a staple for Quebecois households for generations.

Thanks to Grateful Pies, foodies in London can now enjoy a 100% vegan version of the beloved tourtière and it is reportedly as satisfying as the original non-vegan version.
The Grateful Pies tourtière is being served up every Wednesday and Thursday lunchtime at Photobook Cafe near Old Street. It’s piping hot with carrot/swede mash and steaming gravy, available for the rest of winter!
For a limited time you can also get along to the Saturday night Vegan Pie Supper Club at Photobook Cafe each weekend from 7pm until December 20th, 2025. £25 will get you a three-course meal featuring the pie and mash PLUS a welcome drink and dessert. Happy hour between 7:30pm and 8:30pm on Saturday night will get you two cocktails for £10.
Simply rock up for a table or email gratefulpies@gmail.com for groups of four or more.
Photobook Cafe is a super cool creative hub housing self-published photography books, zines, and rotating exhibitions. There is even a jukebox!
Don’t just take my word for it. These pies are delicious and you need to find out for yourself. Get in for a midweek lunch (takeaway or dine in) or a Saturday night dining experience.

Extra note: These mouthwatering pies and the accompanying gravy by Grateful Pies are available to buy frozen from Photobook Cafe, meaning you can recreate the experience at home with your own choice of sides. C’est l’fun!
Extra extra note: Photobook Cafe is not a fully vegan spot but all the pastries are usually vegan and you can ask for the vegan drinks menu from the friendly staff!
