Vegan comfort food in York

I’m on my mini tour of Yorkshire this weekend, looking for fun things to see and eat.

Yesterday I braved the chaotic train situation and the damp weather to take a trip to the city of York. And of course I made time between dodging ghosts and tourists to eat with the best vegan comfort food spot in town.

Read more below.

Junk Soul York is a fast food counter housed inside the Spark food court just a three minute stroll from the tourist-swamped Shambles.

Junk Soul is serving up the sort of cuisine that is both fun and tasty, perfect for a day trip treat.

Because I am a sucker for anything related to vampires (see what I did there?!), I ordered The Vegan Vampire sandwich featuring vegan steak pieces, gherkins, and garlic mayo all slapped together inside a toasted charcoal bun.

We also grabbed a plate of fries loaded with vegan sausage pieces and rich, tomato sauce.

The full name of the business is Junk Soul Smothered and you can find another location in the nearby Yorkshire town of Beverley. It is this location where you’ll find Junk Soul serving up full roast dinners!

Make time for either of the Junk Soul Smothered locations whenever you find yourself in Yorkshire and be sure to follow them on Instagram.
