Babe Screening and Karaoke in London

There is a lot going on in London and we are never short of interesting and unique things to do.

With that said, this news about a classic animal-friendly Hollywood blockbuster screening coupled with live music and karaoke is surprising even by London standards!

Read more below.

To get you up to speed with this unusual yet exciting news, you need to know a few things.

The Nickel Cinema is a small independent film house on Clerkenwell Road showing hard to see and sometimes controversial movies. I recently attended a screening of the classic disco movie Thank God It’s Friday and I’m heading down there this month for a 70s queer drama and a rare vampire flick. It is definitely my type of cinema.

The second thing I need to remind you about before we move on to the main news is the 1998 movie Babe Pig In The City. This sequel to the adored 1995 classic is considered to be quite overlooked but is bursting with darker scenes involving a cast of various animal characters.

Now that we know about this fabulous cinema and I’ve reminded you about this movie about a pig and its friends, you need to know about this event.

On Saturday 11th October 2025, The Nickel Cinema is hosting a unique event featuring a screening of Babe Pig In The City, a live acoustic musical performance by Maria Dearest, and animal themed karaoke!

This sounds like an incredibly fun night out and tickets are just £12. Click here to buy.

You can also see the full line up of weird and wonderful film screenings coming up on The Nickel Cinema website.

Extra note: it is my understanding that real animals were used in the production of this film but I’m sharing news of this event due to the animal-centric nature of the evening. I thought it might appeal to some of my readers but I completely understand that many vegans would not want to see a film which used trained animals. The background story of animal welfare of Babe Pig In The City is complex and involves animal adoption after filming plus computer generated techniques to limit the time real animals were utilised, but it is still animals for entertainment. How do you feel about it? Tell me in the comments.
