Pulse & Pickle in Walthamstow is Everything

I had the absolute pleasure today of visiting a space super rooted in community care and purpose and I’m still feeling good from the experience.

Pulse & Pickle in Walthamstow is not just another vegan café. It is a space packed with hope, justice, and outrageously delicious food.

Read more below.

Tucked away in the heart of Walthamstow, this spot is a celebration of what it means to do better. It’s a radical community collective that doesn’t just talk about food justice. They live it, breathe it, and plate it up. It’s not performative.

Pulse & Pickle believe that access to good food is a right. Not a perk. Not a luxury. A right. They champion organic, locally produced vegan food that is inclusive, accessible, and priced with real care. If you need gluten-free or nut-free options, you’re not an afterthought here. You’re part of the plan.

The space itself is a welcoming hub for everything from community meals and collective childcare to queer cabarets and grief circles. They’re building a world that centres migrants and refugees. It’s run by the community for the community.

This isn’t just somewhere to go for lunch or a meal. Yes, it will fill your belly but it is also dismantling oppressive systems. It’s somewhere that’s walking the walk when it comes to food sovereignty, mutual aid, and communal living. And in a city where so many of us feel disconnected, it’s a breath of fresh air.

Pulse & Pickle is doing the crucial work. Let’s show up for them. Go eat. Go support. Go contribute. London needs this space, and we need more like it.

You can find them in Walthamstow and keep up with their events, meals, and workshops via their website.
