PETA slams space scientists

Wow.

PETA has pulled some questionable stunts in their time but this takes the dairy-free cake.

My cousin Muriel in Australia scanned this news article that appeared this morning in her local paper, The Porpoise Spit Bugle, and sent it over to me.

Have a read below, but the gist of the article is PETA’s attention-seeking stunt to have scientists rename the Milky Way.

Check it out and let me know how you feel about these type of publicity campaigns. Do they help or hinder our vegan cause?

  1. I can’t find this anywhere online, but it sounds like an Onion piece. Without context it’s difficult to know if something is satire or not.

    • The context is the posting date of April 1st

  2. Happy April fools to you too! Especially enjoyed the Muriel’s wedding reference

  3. Happy April fools day!

  4. It’s April 1st here in the UK: was this an Australian April Fools day stunt? If so, it’s in a context where outlandish stories are not only acceptable but encouraged, and so no harm done in my view. If it wasn’t, then it is does nothing to help the cause.

  5. It seems like an April Fools Day joke. And the article keeps conflating the solar system with the galaxy. Our galaxy is called the Milky Way, not our solar system.

  6. Haha. This cannot be possible. I too think its an April 1st joke.
