Vegan job available

Oh my. If I didn’t already have a job as the resident FGV, I would be all over this opportunity.

Do you know about Dr Hadwen Trust?

This charity is on a mission to find compassionate alternatives to animal-based research and prove that non-animal medical research is the future. Dr Hadwen Trust is the leading UK group in this crucial field and work hard to ‘fund new research committed to advancing biomedical science without the use of animals.’

You can find out more about Dr Hadwen Trust (and support their work) here.

But what’s this of a cool vegan job I mentioned?

Dr Hadwen Trust is committed to opening the first vegan charity shop in the UK and they are looking for a shop manager.

Check this out from their website:

We are thrilled to announce that the DHT, in a first for a national charity, is set to open a vegan charity shop!

Dr Kay Miller said “we plan on being open for business in the summer and believe that opening a charity shop will help raise awareness of our work, as well as helping us engage with current and new supporters.”

“We receive a huge amount of support from the vegan and vegetarian communities. Opening what we hope will be the first of a national chain of vegan shops clearly reflects our commitment to funding medical research that is both relevant to humans, and cruelty-free.”

Continued Kay: “The charity shop sector is busy, never more so than in Hitchin where the DHT is based. So, we wanted to open a shop with a difference. The shop will stock a wide range of goods that we know will be of interest to vegans and non-vegans.”

“We are sure that our customers and supporters will be delighted to hear that 100% of profits from the shop, and our online shop, will be used to help fund our cutting-edge research projects. Supporting our shop will be making a material contribution towards advancing medical research and towards saving the lives of countless animals that would have been destined for a life in a laboratory”.

The DHT is in the process of recruiting a Shop Manager for their shop. If you are interested in applying for the position, please see the job description and application.

How awesome. The shop will be located in Hitchin, Hertfordshire.
