Carluccio’s is a chain of Italian themed cafes and delis with approximately 45 locations around the UK. The wide-reaching group can be found in shopping centres, on High Streets and across town centres all over the country.
Most people in the UK are familiar with the Italian eatery, but perhaps not everyone is aware of the vegan menu you can ask to see when dining with Carluccio’s.
I popped into my local outlet in West London last week to try some of the animal free options for myself. The food was simple, tasty and filling. It wasn’t groundbreaking but it certainly got the job done.
I thoroughly enjoyed the bread tin accompanied by dipping oil and balsamic. My main of pomodoro was the classic, basic dish. I did find myself adding a bit more salt and pepper than I normally would to a spaghetti dish.
The service was pleasant and I would definitely consider Carluccio’s again when stuck for a solid vegan meal.
Extra note: I was offered parmesan cheese three times by Carluccio’s servers. One server told me she would die without cheese and couldn’t understand how I was still living. I thought this was kinda cute the first time but three suggestions that I add cheese to improve my meal was a slight nuisance. Maybe a vegan parmesan should be an option?

Yeah, I went there a few years ago and it was horrendous for vegans, nothing on the menu was suitable. I think it’s great that they have introduced a vegan menu, but from looking at what you got, I would wait until they can do better than spaghetti with tomato sauce…
