Sunday shoe shopping
Until last week, I had never stepped foot inside the Vegetarian Shoes store located in Brighton. The only time I would venture to Brighton was a Sunday. I don’t know why, but my daytime trips have always been on Sundays and the store was always closed on that day of the week.
Not anymore.
I made another one of my Sunday trips to the seaside town recently and was surprised to see Vegetarian Shoes open and conducting a bustling trade. On enquiring, I was told by the shop worker that the owner made the decision back in December to commence Sunday trading. Finally!
It was always a mystery to me why the shop was closed on surely what has to be one of the busiest trading days for Brighton town centre. The shopping district is swarming with visitors from all over the southeast.
OK. Sunday trading rant over.
Get into this shoe shop. It is one of the true superstars of the vegan community and the company enjoys an almost reverence amongst compassionate people. Every place I travel on the planet, I meet folk who know about (and are wearing) Vegetarian Shoes.
Walking into the Brighton store front is an uplifting experience. It feels almost celebratory to know this company started as a true pioneer of compassionate clothing over two decades ago and is still standing strong.
Know your history, vegans.
