A job well Dun

You know I travel a lot, right? I have hauled my hefty frame from one continent to another for many years and I wouldn’t have it any other way. The desire to keep moving runs deep in my veins and I’m perpetually plotting and scheming my next journey.

People have often asked me where I would ‘settle’ if I had to and I always answer, “I never want to settle’. But then they get annoyed at me for not playing the game properly so I answer, “Wherever I can purchase and consume Dun-Well Doughnuts“.

Dun-Well Doughnuts do not mess around. This charming vegan bakery sits proudly on a Brooklyn side street where it produces the world’s best donuts. I’m not qualifying that statement or apologising for it… they make the best.

A few weeks ago I found myself in Manhattan with a few hours to spare. So what did I do? I got my chubby, queer self off the island as fast as the L could spirit me to Dun-Well… and it stands as one of the best food choices I have ever made.

Everything about the bakery is glorious. The co-owner serving us was a dreamboat with a winning smile and a delightful sense of humour. The decor is cozy, welcoming and charming. The food has no equal and the pictures below will leave you with dreams of sweetness and glazing.

On the inside

As you can clearly see, Dun-Well is vegan heaven on Earth. The co-owner told me of plans to start selling a donut burger and he even showed me a photo of a prototype. It was all I could do not to faint. Have mercy!

To calm myself down, I ordered a donut sundae peculiarly called a ‘Sunday’ on the menu. This stunning creation was served with vegan ice cream by Lula’s Sweet Apothecary. If you can’t tell what is going on in the photo below, let me make it simple. I ate a donut with ice cream smothered in chocolate sauce and syrup… and the entire thing was vegan.

I’m so ready to settle down and Brooklyn is looking mighty fine.
