New vegan store West London

I bring huge vegan news on the daily, but rarely do I get to say that an amazing vegan business is opening just a 15-minute walk from where I live in West London.

VeganHQ is a fully-vegan mini grocery store and takeaway food outlet. It also happens to be London’s very first completely vegan organic coffee shop.

The shop front opened just days ago at 50 St. Mary’s Road in Ealing and I’m thrilled to say it is just a short walk along South Ealing Road from where I live when I’m in London.

VeganHQ is stocked solid with vegan meats, vegan cheeses, chocolate, t-shirts, household products and more!

The food line up sounds like comfort food heaven with hot dogs, hamburgers and kebabs.

The nearest Underground station is South Ealing on the Piccadilly Line. Click here to see the simple walking directions from the station to the store.

The next closest station is Ealing Broadway on the District and Central Lines as well as Mainline trains. Click here to see walking distance to the store from Ealing Broadway.

VeganHQ is open 7 days a week during the day, so please make a big effort to get along to support this 100% vegan business (as well as grab yourself some tasty treats).

Follow VeganHQ on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Vegan falafel truck

London does have some vegan surprises up its sleeve!

Check out this 100% vegan falafel trailer perched smack bang in the middle of Ealing Broadway in West London.

Yes, I understand falafel is everywhere in London and I also know that falafel is often vegan but how often do you see a food business with the word ‘vegan’ so predominantly displayed all over it? Falafel Box does just that!

You will also be appreciative if you have spent any time in West London. It is a ghost town when it comes to vegan food. While East London is swamped by vegan eateries, this side of town can feel like the land time forgot.

Yay for vegan food businesses in West London!

You can follow Falafel Box on Facebook.

Falafel Box is located at the start of a small pedestrianised street called Oak Road, just a 30 second walk from Ealing Broadway Underground and Rail station.

Watch cooking

Along with a lot of other west London based vegans, I often complain that not a lot happens for plant eaters on this side of the city.

Well, here is one event.

Angela Malik has just opened a culinary school in Ealing and is set to host a vegan cooking demonstration next week on June 5, 2014. The event will be a chance for attendees to watch a vegan Chinese meal be prepared from scratch before diving in for some tasting.

The event website states that you will observe the creation of wood ear salad with coriander, pock marked old woman’s tofu and stir fried Chinese greens with sizzling oil. Then you will eat it!

The tickets are available now. I would love to hear what this event is like if you go along.

Let’s hope this is just the start of more vegan events in the forgotten western part of the capital.

Beer is for winners

Cider has been creeping up my list of loved libations lately, but it is true my heart belongs to beer.

I am often searching high and low to feed my desire for new, vegan beer that has yet to pass my lips. If you see a frenzied, chubby guy frantically picking up beer bottles and putting them down again, don’t be startled. It is probably just your friendly, neighbourhood FGV looking for a vegan certification symbol. It was during one of these recent expeditions at As Nature Intended in Ealing that I discovered two new beers to add to my drinking repertoire.
