Vegan Donut Cafe in Paris

Paris has a lot going for it. Beautiful buildings, fascinating history, and way too much culture.

And now you can add a 100% vegan donut cafe to that impressive list of attractions.

Boneshaker Donuts & Coffee grew out of a straightforward idea. Proper handmade doughnuts, served alongside great coffee, in a space in the middle of Paris where people actually want to hang out.

Back in 2015 pastry chef Amanda Bankert, a Cordon Bleu Paris graduate, picked up a tiny home fryer for a tenner at a Montmartre yard sale and started supplying small batches of donuts to neighbourhood coffee spots.

People fell in love with what she was making, and by the following summer she was opening the doors to what became Paris’s first true donut shop, right in the heart of the food obsessed 2nd arrondissement.

I was in Paris on the weekend with my husband and friends for a concert, but we made sure we left enough time to visit Boneshaker.

The donuts were spectacular. Proper decadent donts dripping is inventive toppings and stuffed with gooey fillings. 10 out of 10 doesn’t do it justice. It is a marriage of US-style donuts with French pastry know-how.

Go there and eat everything!
