How does a vegan holiday by the sea sound to you? What if I told you that you could enjoy it at half the usual price while also giving your time to care for rescued animals?
The Miggi, a vegan guesthouse just 100 metres from the sandy Devon coast, has come up with a beautiful way to support their local animal sanctuary, Hakuna Matata Animal Trust. This small charity is home to pigs, sheep, rabbits, gerbils and cats, and like many sanctuaries, it is in desperate need of extra pairs of hands.
Read more below.

Here is how it works. If you volunteer with Hakuna Matata Animal Trust, you can stay at The Miggi for half price. Volunteering might include feeding and watering the animals, mucking out, helping to repair fencing, building shelters, or just giving your energy to the daily running of the sanctuary. You can choose to stay for a couple of nights or up to two weeks.
The Miggi hope volunteers will spend roughly half of their holiday helping at the sanctuary, leaving the rest of the time free to explore Torbay or simply relax by the sea. Each day can start with one of their epic vegan breakfasts to keep you fuelled for both working to help animals and enjoying the local scenery.
If you are interested, you need to apply directly to Hakuna Matata Animal Trust. Once you are accepted as a volunteer, you will receive the discount code for 50% off your stay at The Miggi.
This is such a thoughtful idea that benefits both travellers and rescued animals. A seaside holiday, incredible vegan breakfasts, and the chance to give something back to the sanctuary animals who need it most.
