Every now and then a memory of good eating hits me so clearly I can almost taste it again.
That happened to me recently when I caught a glimpse online of the new dishes at Twelve Eatery in Bournemouth.

It’s been a few years since I’ve made it down to this beautiful coastal town and even longer since I last dined at Twelve. But the memories are still strong. I remember every bite being top notch. The setting was stunning, the service thoughtful, and the food? Pure artistry. Easily one of the best vegan restaurants in the country.
Twelve isn’t just a place to eat. It’s a place to be reminded of how creative and elegant plant-based food can be. They don’t follow trends. They set them. Every dish I had there felt like it had been made with care, passion and flair.
So imagine my joy when I saw two new dishes being served up. The first is the New Forest Mushroom Mole Poblano. This one comes with rice and beans, sliced avocado, kombucha fermented pickled onions and radishes, a squeeze of fresh lime and a mouth-watering Mole sauce.
The second new addition is a “Chicken” Schnitzel. Crispy and golden, served alongside kombucha fermented slaw, lemon and caper sauce and wedges of fresh lemon. The kind of plate that makes me want to hop on a train immediately.
Twelve has always known how to create food that feels like a special occasion. Every dish is thoughtful and delicious. If you’re anywhere near Bournemouth, treat yourself. If you’re further afield, maybe now’s the time to plan that trip. Your stomach will thank you.
