Who deserves a countryside day trip involving gentle hiking, fresh air, friendly faces, and vegan kimchi?
You do!
Read more below.

Kimchi in the Country is a lovingly planned one-off experience hosted by Gary, Ruth, and Jenny to celebrate ten years of fermenting deliciousness together.
Yes, these three have been making kimchi together for a whole decade and now they’re sharing the joy with a lucky handful of people.
On Friday 26th July, 2025 a small group of fermentation fans will head to Goring & Streatley Station in Oxfordshire, ready for a hike through the glorious countryside. It’s all been mapped out, with a lunch stop planned at a local pub serving vegan-friendly options (you can buy your own lunch).
After lunch, it’s down to business: you’ll head to a cosy kitchen where the trio will guide you through their favourite kimchi recipes, with each participant heading home with their own handmade jars and recipes.

All the recipes on the day are vegan, naturally. Because fermented doesn’t have to mean fish sauce.
Tickets are limited to between 15 and 20 attendees. Tickets are priced on a sliding scale and £5 from every ticket goes directly to Made in Hackney, the UK’s first fully vegan community cookery school and charity.
So if you fancy a day of slow walking, thoughtful eating, and maybe a few kimchi-scented train rides, this is the perfect summer outing.
Kimchi in the countryside? Yes please!
