Tucked away on the South Devon coast just a short stroll from the beautiful sandy beach of Preston Sands, The Miggi is not just a guesthouse.
It is an experience.
Every inch of this charming spot is curated with care. It is proudly and completely vegan, LGBTQ+ friendly, and has a fabulous book theme running through its six individually designed rooms. There is a wheelchair-accessible suite and the warmest welcome for canine companions. Woof!
Each room is inspired by a different author. The gothic allure of the Mary Shelley room, the art nouveau opulence of the Oscar Wilde room, and the earthy, comforting tones of the Tolkien room all have their own distinct charm.
Handmade decorations, cosy seating areas, and thoughtful touches like a fridge, kettle, and hand-crafted welcome chocolates make the rooms feel like a home away from home. If you have a dog in tow, they will be just as spoiled, with their own special treats on arrival.
Mark and Naomi, the dedicated owners, have been vegan for over thirty years and their ethos shines through in every detail.
There are thick, fluffy towels to wrap up in after a shower, luxury toiletries, books and board games to borrow, and even a basket of dog towels by the door. The room booklet is full of recommendations, from local attractions to the best vegan eats in the area. It is the kind of place where everything feels considered, with a genuine commitment to both comfort and ethics.

Breakfast is a highlight, served with a playful literary twist. The menu is set out in chapters, offering a selection that includes overnight oats, fresh fruits, croissants, and hearty cooked breakfasts starring homemade seitan bacon.
Gluten-free guests are well catered for and The Complete Works breakfast lives up to its name, keeping you fuelled for a day of exploring.
The Miggi is also home to All Good Things Vegan, a food business run by talented chef Phoenix. Guests and locals alike can book in for one of their dining events, where gourmet restaurant-quality meals and elaborate afternoon teas are served up with flair.
Sustainability runs deep at The Miggi, with practical green solutions everywhere you look. Rooms have compost bins and mixed recycling, breakfasts avoid wasteful single-use plastics, and food is cooked to order to prevent waste.
Even better, a donation is made to the local Hunt Saboteur group for every night someone stays.
