Vegan pub food
London, you have new vegan food options and they look incredible.
On the Holloway Road sits a live music venue called 12 Bar Club. This venue hosts live music and any given day will find punters enjoying indie, alt-country, punk, folk and rock ‘n’ roll bands.
This is all well and good but I promised you talk of vegan food, right?
Phil T’s at the 12 Bar is the new name for the kitchen inside this north London location. The menu reads like a gourmet rundown of British comfort food and every course has a vegan option. No, I don’t mean you have to ask for salad. Phil T and his team will serve you straight up, wholesome vegan comfort food and you can order it from the menu without having to freak out or nervously explain plant-based eating to your server.
Check out the feast Fran of Vx recently enjoyed in the restaurant. (Thanks for the pics, Fran!)
Starting with the first dish, you can see a killer salad constructed from heritage carrots, malted onions, radish and salsify. Move on to the main for spinach and dukka crumble with buttered squash and roast potatoes. Dessert is rounded off with caramelised pineapple, coconut sorbet and peanut cookies.
Where else in London is serving food like this for vegans? I’m sorry that we have to rely on an omni restaurant to give us this good stuff but also super happy that Phil T is getting the job done.
The vegan items rotate so make sure you get there when the restaurant is serving their pulled jackfruit served with barbecue sauce, black beans and rice. A quick scan of their menu also tells me you can get homemade vegan skinny chips or a house salad most days as well. Also look out for Saturday brunch and Sunday roasts.
The 12 Bar Club is a live music venue located at 203 Holloway Road, just a short stroll from either Holloway Road or Highbury & Islington stations.
You can like Phil T’s at the 12 Bar on Facebook to keep in the loop for vegan menu items and opening times.
Sounds awesome, no pubs near me with vegan options but I do get well fed if I give notice so cant complain. More choice in London though you lucky vegans (:-) One day I will be able to walk into any eatery and have vegan choices, well thats what I’m hoping for anyway!
Holy Crapoli! Is that 12 Bar Club as in the one recently forced out of Tin Pan Alley? If so, another great reason to support them. I will be there asap.
Nice vegan food and cool place!
