All day vegan cooking class

Got a spare £150 burning a hole in your hemp trouser pocket?

Major grocery retailer Waitrose is offering a full day vegan cooking class with cook book author and blogger, Aine Carlin.

Check out the details below.

Taking place in the Waitrose Finchley Road Cookery School, this class will run between 9:30am and 4:30pm on January 24th, 2015.

The class description on the Waitrose site reads as follows:

Join Áine Carlin at the Waitrose Cookery School as she demystifies veganism, with delicious yet simple recipes taken from her new cookbook using supermarket ingredients.

Her creative ideas will tempt long-time vegans and newcomers alike, and even meat-eaters and dairy fans won’t feel they’re missing out. Start the day with some blueberry muffins and bircher museli. Then Áine will take you step-by-step through this hands-on day where you will turn your hand to Macaro-No Cheese, easy sharing taco’s, a tofu masterclass served with Green Bean Salad with Lemon, Garlic & Chilli and Cumin Spiced Carrots. Then most importantly, onto the sweet stuff which includes Carrot Cake Bites and Fudgy Brownies. Your dishes will be ready in time to enjoy a late lunch in our dining area over a glass or two of wine. Round off the day with more cookery demonstrations in our theatre as Aine shows you how to create Cashew Cheese and Crusty No-Knead Bread. There will be plenty of chance to get involved. It’s time to enjoy the taste – and health benefits – of vegan food.

This sounds like a lot of fun and a great idea for people starting their vegan journey. I might even consider taking the class if I had the spare cash hanging around. I like the idea of communally creating food and then sitting down to enjoy the spoils.

What do you think? Is £150 good value for a full day of vegan cooking instruction?

  1. For £150 I’d want waitrose to spellcheck their press releases.

  2. Price is comparable to other cooking courses, e.g. those at Demuths vegetarian cookery school in Bath, who do all vegan courses too.
